Anime Power Rankings

Not much time to watch anime nowadays…

1) Sakura Quest – Shiori is best girl.
2) Tsugumomo – Nice music, nice fights.
3) Little Witch Academia – Story is here!
4) Natsume Yuujinchou Roku – More Natsume goodness.
5) Eromanga-sensei – As pandering as you expect.
6) Uchouten Kazoku S2 – Mamiko Noto is amazing.
7) Hinako Note – Kinda lewd for a cute girls doing cute things show…
8) Attack on Titan S2 – Everyone Titan now.
9) King’s Avatar – Probably the best Chinese cartoon to come out in years.

Here are a couple shows that are worth taking a look this season…

1) Demi-chan wa Kataritai – Amazing dialogue, interesting characters, great animation. Interesting setting along with a bad-ass teacher.
2) Little Witch Academia – Trigger saving anime, once again.
3) Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon – Same writer as Danna Wakaranai, has poignant and heartwarming moments coupled with awesome animation courtesy of Kyoto Animation. Also, cute lolis.
4) Minami Kamakura Koukou Joshi Jitensha-bu – Basically K-ON with bicycles. Quite relaxing.
5) Konosuba S2 – DEEN continues its QUALITY comedy.
6) Seiren – Same makers as Amagami and Kimikiss. Of course it’s good.

Halfway through the season, here’s what’s worth watching:

1) Yuri!!! on Ice – Every episode pushes the boundary of pure gayness.
2) Hibike! Euphonium – Very nice watching the band shocked every episode.
3) Shakunetsu no Takkyuu Musume – Best ping pong anime since Ping Pong.
4) Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari – Probably the realest representation of a pediatric doctor and an older sister in an anime.
5) Keijo!!!!!! – More exclamation points for more hype.
6) Fune wo Amu – Never thought dictionary making can be so riveting.
7) Haikyuu S3 – Get rekt, Shiratorizawa.
8) Stella no Mahou – Cute girls making cute games.
9) ClassicaLoid – Best show Mamiko Noto is in this season (maybe the only show she’s in?)
10) Natsume Yuujinchou Go – Still great, been a long time since 4th season.
11) Girlish Number – The cringe is real.
12) WWW.Working!! – Needs more baby, less chocolate.
13) Shuumatsu no Izetta – Story can go anywhere, courtesy of Guilty Crown writer.
14) Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan – More of a guilty pleasure at this point.
15) Flip Flappers – Dark horse show of the season.
16) 3-gatsu no Lion – Very nice OP and ED courtesy of Bump of Chicken.

I still have time to check out the latest shows. These are worth a watch:

1) Amanchu! – literally HD Aria.
2) Love Live Sunshine – Dia is awesome.
3) Amaama to Inazuma – Yotsuba x Usagi Drop x Cooking.
4) Saiki Kusuo no Psi-nan – The only show that actually explains the funky hair colors you see in anime.
5) Planetarian – even though I know what’s going to happen I can’t help but tear up.
6) New Game! – literally what Maceart does at work aka nothing.
7) Mob Psycho 100 – was hooked after episode 2, ONE sure thinks of wacky characters.
8) Thunderbolt Fantasy – Taiwanese pride! Sweet puppet wuxia with Urobuchi flair.
9) DAYS – Surprisingly solid soccer show, gets me pumped up.
10) Fukigen na Mononokean – Sort of a campy Natsume’s Book of Friends.

Definitely Worth a watch:
1) Flying Witch – Maximum comfy!
2) Kuma Miko – Sexual harrassment!
3) Macross Delta – Ikenai borderline!
4) Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge – So cute my heart can’t take this…
5) Pan de Peace! – I wish I had bread buddies.
6) 12-sai ~Chicchana Mune no Tokimeki~ – Perfect for when you want to be the 12-year old pubescent girl.
7) Bakuon!! – K-on + Sabagebu + Rebel without a Cause + Motorcycles
8) Haifuri – Girls and Panzer on warships.
9) Space Patrol Luluco – Trigger does it again.
10) Sakamoto desu ga – Daily Lives of High School Boys vibes.
11) Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress – All aboard the HYPE train!

Probably worth a watch:
1) Kiznaiver – Trigger does it again.
2) Boku no Hero Academia – MC a bit wimpy, but mans up.
3) Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta – Light novel tropes everywhere.
4) Mayoiga – This better not be another Another trainwreck.
5) Ace Attorney – Perfect summary for those not wanting to click through on your DS.
6) Shounen Maid – So far avoiding typical shounen-ai traps.

Probably not worth a watch:
1) Sansha Sanyou – Not really feeling the Yuyushiki vibes.
2) Anne Happy – …
3) Joker Game – A bit pretentious… Sameface everywhere.

1) Young Black Jack – Finally something I can dig my teeth into. Move over House, move over Grey’s Anatomy. Black Jack is in the house!
2) Young Kindaichi Returns S2 – S1 was a bit ew… but they started off the second season with one of the best cases from the original series… And I’m sucked right back in.
3) Miss Monochrome S3 – Will Yui Horie finally hold her concert and have Kikuko BTFO?
4) Noragami Aragoto – Yato’s fail adventures continue!
5) One Punch Man – Madhouse at it again! Move over, Marvel! The best existential superhero show is here!
6) Haikyuu S2 – Volleyball boys are back! The banter level is off the charts…
7) Osomatsu-san – First episode what in the world…
8) Yuruyuri S3 – The Lazy Lilies are back!

NOT worth a watch:
1) JK Meshi – Such bad animation in 2015 should be banned.

Worth a watch:

1) Non Non Biyori Repeat – Renge’s existential adventures are back!
2) Miss Monochrome S2 – Now with talking Roomba!
3) Little Witch Academia Enchanted Parade – Trigger finds a way.
4) Working!!! – Yamada please…
5) Himouto! Umaru-chan – Probably the funniest show this season.
6) Charlotte – Jun Maeda sowing all the seeds for manly tears.
7) Drrrr S2 – More Ikebukuro shenanigans.
8) Wakaba Girl – Kiniro Mosaic minus Union Jack plus OJOUSAMA.
9) Akagami no Shirayuki-hime – Very nice shoujo from the director of Sword of the Stranger.
10) GATE – Outbreak Company plus JSDF propaganda? Count me in.

KYOTO ANIMATION TIER:
1. Hibike! Euphonium

God tier:
1. Hello! Kiniro Mosaic

Great tier:

Worth a watch:
1) Death Parade – Madhouse is back at its finest!
2) Assassination Classroom – Like GTO but with ASSASSINS.
3) Rolling Girls – Colorful art design with power rangers.
4) Koufuku Graffiti – Not safe to watch when hungry, so lewd.
5) Dog Days S3 – Sink and his buddies are back for more wholesome goodness.
6) Durarara!! X2 – Celty is carrying this show so hard.
7) Saekano – Oreshura redux with Kato the sneaky bastard.
8) Yoru no Yatterman – Interesting reversal of hero-villain roles.
9) Maria the Virgin Witch – Mamiko Noto AND Goro Taniguchi? Sign me up.
10) Kamisama Kiss S2 – 2nd episode much better.
11) Comical Psychosomatic Medicine – Just in time for psychiatry clerkship!

Eh…
1) Kantai Collection – Hey Japan is this a thinly veiled allegorical attack on the superiority of USA naval and aerial warfare during WWII???
2) Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE – Gay.
3) Shinmai Maou no Testament – a bit too much PLOT.
4) iiDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls – Crashed and burned on second episode.
